REGALIS

IT'S AT HOME IN ANY COASTAL ROWING CONDITION

Forsa Regalis

The Regalis line features excellent ruggedness and reliable performance in even the most unfavorable coastal rowing conditions. These oars are robust yet well balanced. Sleek, comfortable and with the natural feel of a traditional timber oar.

Unique Forsa Macon style blades are built around high-performance, incorporating traditional lines. Ergonomics are the forefront of the design providing reliable maintenance free construction. It has a fixed (nonadjustable) handle fitted with a 35.5mm OD scull grip (suitable for medium sized hands). Regalis also features a black finish, lightweight aluminum alloy shaft. These combined with the optimized ergonomics will make it comfortable to row for hours, day in and day out. These are just a few of the attributes which make Forsa sculls a great choice for coastal rowing enthusiasts.

The Regalis line is engineered for maximum performance in extreme conditions, in arduous expeditions and in long-range endurance rowing. Designed to make every stroke smooth and steady no matter what the challenge. The Regalis sculls are ready to plunge headlong into the future as the premium coastal rowing tool. Utilizing state of the art CNC production machinery and computerized tooling technology along with the coastal rowing experience enables us to offer the finest coastal rowing oars of extraordinary value without sacrificing performance. You can row with peace of mind that Forsa Oars will never cut corners on rugged durability. Forsa Oars are your performance guarantee.

THE BLADE DESIGN

The Regalis blade is inspired by traditional timber and Macon designs. Ergonomics are the major design factor. The blade features a streamlined spade-like shape which reduces windage.

The elimination of the central ridge creates a smooth front surface. Due to a less concaved body, the center of the curve is located midway between the leading and tailing edges. The elliptical leading edge, the sharper and flatter tailing edge along with the blade's unique trademark horizontal grooves, provide a framework which increases rigidity, structural strength and stiffness, without adding weight. These also reduce eddying turbulence. Turbulent flow creates frictional resistance within the boundary layer which clings to the surface of the oar. This resistance increases with speed. However, resistance per square area decreases with length. The boundary layer varies in thickness being considerably thinner at the leading than the tailing edge. Thus, a slimmer, longer and less concaved oar blade is necessary for endurance efficiency. The Regalis design features, along with the trademark horizontal grooves, allow for the water to pass smoothly across the front of the blade. The resulting flow leaving the blade becomes laminate with less eddies. This lengthens the separation of water which creates a horizontal thrust and reduced drag at the end of the stroke that is parallel to the boat. The resulting optimized stroke efficiency lessens arm fatigue even in choppy conditions.

CONSTRUCTION DETAILS

The blade is attached to the shaft using a unique revolutionary right hand conical thread. The right hand thread is for the Forsa Regalis blade. This method combined with an adhesive for perfect fit prevents endplay. The addition of an extra long (20cm) throat and thread surface creates a more rigid bond. The uniquely developed seal prevents water, salt and sand from entering the throat and threaded area. It also provides protection against abrasion for reliable maintenance free performance. These seals are color coded enabling quick and easy - starboard/port side - oar identification.

THE SHAFT

The shaft is extruded from 6082 aircraft grade aluminum alloy for optimum weight and salt water resistance. This has been heat treated according to T2 specs for optimum stiffness. Topped with a durable environmentally friendly anticorrosion layer of black finish further enhancing resistance to the elements and is rugged enough for coastal rowing use in all climate conditions. The handle is extruded from the shaft as a mono-block rather than an attached handle for maximum reliability for rigorous daily use. Both shaft length and sleeve location can be customized to your specifications.

BLADE MATERIALS & FINISH

The blade is manufactured to Forsa’s own design and tooling using a cost effective CNC injection molding process. They are solidly constructed with a custom engineered high-performance glass-fiber or carbon reinforced thermoplastic blend. Both of these will withstand salt water and UV rays as well as being shock and abrasion resistant. A sand blasted finish improves traction and grip in rough water.

The standard color is black. Customized solid colors are available on volume orders at an additional cost. A color chart is available upon request.
